Description
Hand constructed from sections of cast and wrought brass. The lantern is of circular form and of 'concertina' action. The brass base section incorporates a central candle sconce - the upper housing has retained the original central cover. The ornately pierced upper casing is mounted with a hinged 'swan-neck' handle.This example has retained the original pleated and stitched linen 'shade' - (often missing or extensively damaged).
Size: overall height - 19 1/2" (495mm), diameter - 7" (178mm).
Weight - 468 grams.
Condition: Very Good. Signs of genuine age and usage. No cracks - no repair work. Natural colour and patina.
