Description
Precisely hand constructed form elements of worked brass, taking the form of a hollow eel like fish. The 'scaled' body sections are of graduated sleeve form, each element able to 'slide' within and over the two neighbouring components to the taping mechanical fish. Hinges are incorporated along the backbone and bellow the length of the belly - allowing left and right articulation, finishing at the tail. The head is fitted with a pair of small hinged fins. Embossed work and applied brass wire create a mouth and features.
The eye sockets are inset with pair of faceted red glass 'eyes'.
Length - 13 1/2" (343mm).
Weight -199 grams.
Condition: Very Good. Very minor surface marks and small bruises, (consistent with age). Fully articulated and no repairs. Natural colour and patina.
